Bird Feeders

I don't know about you but I just love Spring time. I love the colors, the flowers in bloom, the weather is refreshing, the clothes are cooler..... I could go on and on about this wonderful time of year. Well one of our spring crafts that I did with my daughter's Girl Scout troop was to make bird feeders. They were learning about how to make the world a better place and I thought helping the animals was such a great idea and we used toilet paper rolls so we recycled too.

So here it is. It is so simple to make just get a toilet paper roll and spread peanut butter all over it and then roll it with bird seed just put a pretty ribbon through the tube and hang on a tree. We hung them up in the front and back yard and the girls have just loved to see if the birds are coming. I think we might get a few squirrels too, but that's ok.
I have so many spring projects going on in my house right now I think my head is going to explode with excitement. I just can't wait to get them all done and up in the house!
HAPPY CRAFTING AND HAPPY SPRING!

Valentine's Craft

So Olivia and I were sitting around the other day and of course I had a million things to do, but she only had one thing in mind and that was to play with Mama, so I thought CRAFT TIME! Love that time during the week when she is willing to craft with me and not play princesses for about 30 min. So I cut up some squares that are about 1x1" in colors of pink and red and drew a heart on an 8x8" white paper and had her clue them in the heart. Well of course my thought was to clue them in the heart, but her idea was to clue them anywhere on the page that she thought looked cute. I also found some red heart stickers for her to put on the card as well. I wrote "Happy Valentine's Day" on it and then she was set for her homemade card for her grandparents when we see them next week. Once I told her she was making the card for them she was so excited to make it so beautiful. So, here is the picture of the Valentine's craft and hopefully you are thinking of cute things to make for your loved ones too.

Snowflakes for Sandy Hook

It was such a tragedy that our nation faced on Dec. 14th at Sandy Hook Elementary but to help the school, victims, and families the national PTA has started this snowflakes for Sandy Hook. What a great idea! My girls love to craft and so that is what we did all morning and they couldn't stop making them. I have a 1st grader too and so she understood a little how this will impact their school. She wanted to make so many that it would fill up a hallway! I had to get her to slow down a bit but we made about 25 of them and sending them to +Krista Parry at the +Snowmamas so they can send over a big package to the Sandy Hook school. I have been so touched by this tragedy and sitting here many days crying for the families that have lost a little one so close to the holidays but this warmed my heart to be able to do something I'm good at and craft.
Making something for someone else makes my day and I know that some of the victims will never see the snowflakes but it might help the children who were scared to return to school after the holidays. I hope it relieves a little of those fears. So I hope everyone makes a snowflake for them.

Hope everyone has a wonderful and joyous Christmas holiday season. If you want to make your own snowflakes to share visit Snowmamas and that is where you can find all the info.

Crafting

Even though Christmas is right around the corner there is always time for crafting. I picked up these little kits at the craft store the other day and figured they would come in handy soon. The girls were so excited when I brought them out today. We will see how long it keeps their attention.
